Hello and welcome back everyone!
I hope that you had an amazing summer full of small moments, as well as growth and laughter. I spent the summer with my two daughters (Hazel, age 6 and Taylor age 2), and husband traveling all over the world to see family in Oregon, the Midwest, the UK and Paris. I have to admit, that as sweet as summer is, I am looking forward to being back in the routine of school and getting to know all of your children and their families!
I am so happy that you have found this blog, as it will be my primary way of communicating with you throughout the year. Of course, if you have questions please email me! I will usually send an email letting you know when I update the blog, but it is always a good idea to be alerted as well. Please check back for weekly information and curriculum updates.
I am fired up for another great year in 5th grade, and look forward to greeting all of your children on Thursday with open arms. The 5th grade team works closely to plan a rigorous, and engaging year for all 5th grade students, and I work to ensure a fun and safe learning environment for all learners. If you have anything you would like/ need for me to know before we can meet in person (especially medical needs), please email me at [email protected]. I am also happy to meet with you in person after school by appointment. I look forward to receiving all of your surveys (attached to the welcome letter you should have received in the mail last week) to better get to know you and your family in order to have the best school year possible. If you would like another copy, please let me know.
Please know that during the school day I will not be checking email until recess times. If you have an urgent matter, please call the office and they can relay the message to me during instructional hours. During the school day your child's education is my #1 priority. Please make sure your child knows how they are getting home, where to meet you or a carpool before school starts each day.
To kick off the school year, we will be holding a special 5th grade parent information night on August 29th at 5:30pm. Please plan to join us to meet the teaching team and learn more about unique 5th grade events, opportunities and curriculum. Please also mark Back to School Night on your calendar! We will meet in Room 32 in the evening on September 13th. I'll let you know the time as soon as I hear from the administration.
I am looking forward to having the best year possible to round out your child's elementary school experience. This will be a big year of growth for them, and for you as a parent as well. Please know that I am here for you every step of the way!
With kind regards,
Bethany Womack
