Week of 12/10/18
The Literary Feast
As a culminating project for our Interpretation Book Clubs, we will be holding a Literary Feast on Wednesday, December 19th from 12:45-1:55pm. Students are being asked to bring in food items representing their books.
Here are some important points:
We wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season. Best wishes for a great New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2019!
Thank you!
Your 5th Grade Team
Ordering School Photos
In your child's Wednesday folder today, you will find either photos that you ordered from picture day or a small informational flier about how to order photos. Please review that flier if you'd like to order pictures. You can also call Dorian (the photo company) to get their individual access code. The customer service number is 1-800-826-3535. You need to know the teacher name (Frazier) and grade (5).
Kiddo Donations
Kiddo! donation day was last Thursday, December 6th. If you have not yet donated to Kiddo!, please consider donating now. Kiddo! provides amazing programmatic support to our district and opens the door for art, music, physical education, drama and poetry in our district. Without Kiddo!, our district and the educational opportunities for our kids would look incredibly different. We are so lucky your support and the support of Kiddo! Thank you for considering making a donation.
Frazier Squad Fest!
It's time to party! Next Friday, December 21st, we will have a class celebration. We will watch a movie, play games, and I will provide a pizza lunch for the kids. Please cancel any hot lunch orders you have for that day and plan to skip packing a lunch. Let me know if you have any questions about the party.
Update from Chloe, our Class Secretary
Read on to hear what happened at school last week!
On Monday we had a substitute and we learned about fractions. We also had and author visit. The book fair started too. On Tuesday, we had the same substitute and had another author visit from Jennifer Nielsen. And the book fair was happening. On Wednesday, Ms. Frazier came back and we learned how to use a clock to help us understand fractions. It was a rainy day so recess was inside. On Thursday, we learned more about fractions and we did a social studies activity.
As a culminating project for our Interpretation Book Clubs, we will be holding a Literary Feast on Wednesday, December 19th from 12:45-1:55pm. Students are being asked to bring in food items representing their books.
Here are some important points:
- Students are fully responsible for bringing the food ready to be served along with serving utensils. We have spent time brainstorming and assigning appropriate foods in class, so your children should know exactly what is expected. Please ask your children for more details. Students should bring enough to serve 8-10 people.
- If it is possible to bring food in disposable/recyclable containers, it would make things easier for us and for your children. If items need to return home, please make sure they are labeled.
- We are in need of plates, napkins, and eating utensils. If there are a few parents who can provide these items, that would be appreciated. Please let your child’s homeroom teacher know.
- Students will bring their food to their homeroom classrooms at the beginning of the school day and they will help us set up for the feast immediately following lunch.
We wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season. Best wishes for a great New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2019!
Thank you!
